Wii Injuries and other useless info.. April 11, 2007

I was at a party the other week and they were discussing a website on the dangers of the Nintendo Wii. http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/
Apparently most injuries and damage to property are caused from a defective wrist strap. I hope they are ready for the law suits coming their way.
Not a bad day at work. I’m currently in the process of finding a competitive premium for a $140,000 motor vehicle. The policy also needs to include cover for organised race days. I do have a quote including the racing extension. The only issue is the extension excludes almost all racing?!?! I’ve been working on this one for a week. If only insurance was as simple as those NRMA adds imply. If you do arrange your own insurance check all the fine print.. before checking what’s covered, check what’s not covered (exclusions) or get your trusty sister to review your policy for you.

Today, Alek and I went to Miranda for some shopping. I think we only bought a lego boat (for al obviously) and a book for me. The new book by Jodi Picoult – Nineteen Minutes. It’s a story about a teenage boy that goes on a shooting rampage at school. I’ve read other books by this author and although most of them give me nightmares they are good books.. haha Alek spent much of the afternoon putting together his new lego boat. He was a bit excited that there was a 15% sale on lego making it $5 cheaper. When asked where the other $33 comes from he replied “your credit card”. My credit card recently expired and I haven’t activated the new one.. out of laziness more than anything but it’s got the most credit its had on it in a long time so i’m planning on keeping it that way.
Alek is off to his grandparents for a few days. He is heading down to Canberra for the night tomorrow. It’s quiet when he’s not around! I will miss the little fella.
Just heard from one of my friends Helen, We worked together for a few months and lived next to each other until she moved to Perth. She was a great friend and we have caught up a few times when she visits Sydney. She’s coming for the 1st week of May (my birthday is on the 1st) so we will be heading out to the city. She is only paying $80/night for the hotel.. It helps to get huge discounts through work… either that or it’s a backpackers hostel she’s inviting me to stay at.. hmmmm I’m looking forward to it.
It’s past my bedtime

Happy Easter!! April 8, 2007

Well today is Easter Sunday… It only seems like Christmas was yesterday! As you can see in the picture Alek got a lot of eggs, the ones pictured were only the ones we hid around the garden. There were a whole lot more than that. Alek also got the bunny in the picture.
Last night my mum and brother, Greg stayed over. Alek slept downstairs with them and they let me sleep in yay!! Alek had lunch with his dad and family.
Yesterday we went to the National Park.. Our dreams of a warm sunny day were just not happening.. As we drove to Wattamolla (?) the rain started… At that stage I was happy to turn around and go home with our packed lunch. As Greg and Alek were concerned we had paid $11 to get in we went down and had a look around. It was way too cold to swim. We tried catching some little fish and headed back home. It’s a great place to visit when it’s hot.
My first body pump class April 8, 2007

My gym runs a pump technique class once a month. They recommend you do this class before starting a pump class. The idea is to show you what the class involves and the correct technique to use. If you have never heard body pump is involves a whole lot of lunges, squats, presses and push ups and using a barbell with small weights. I knew I was in trouble 10 minutes into the technique class and I was really scared about surviving the 1 hour class straight after.
I was sore as soon as I got home and getting up this morning was almost impossible. It would have been easier to fall down the stairs then walk down!! My thighs and backside were killing me.. now my shoulders and back muscles are starting to feel it.. and they say the second day is the worst.. hmmm In saying that at least I know it works and i’ll hopefully be brave enough to go to my next class next week. Wish me luck!
Who the heck is Ashley… April 6, 2007

Further to my random txt messages from Joey the other day looking for a girl by the name of Ashley.. I had a phone call on my mobile from another random no. This guy by the name of Justin was also looking for Ashley. I told the poor young fella that it appears he was given the incorrect no. along with at least one other guy. The question is.. who is Ashley… If she didnt really like these guys why bother giving them a number at all (let alone MY number) Why not just say.. sorry not interested…
My Day at the Races April 5, 2007

As I may or may not have mentioned, my company puts on a ladies race day each year with the aim to raise money and also awareness in a large group of women about breast cancer. This year we had about 85 people attend. The strange thing was because I am fairly new to the company a lot of the clients have been to previous years races but I was the new one.
For the first time I actually placed bets all on my own.. scarier than you may think. I won a few, with my largest win $28.60 or something like that. I think at the end of the day I ended up in front. We had a guest speaker who is currently battling breast cancer for the second time. She has the most agreesive form of breast cancer which has spread to most parts of her body. This lady was such an inspiration to everyone, the room was silent whilst she was speaking and she is out there raising awareness and helping others whilst taking each day as it comes. It’s really easy to hand over cash after hearing a story like that. Thanks Adrien and I wish you all the best!!
It was a fantastic day, one many clients look forward to each year.
Another day at work.. April 2, 2007

Another busy day at work.. The next few months will be a little hectic. We also have a few social events coming up.. Ladies race day on Wednesday. This is a day where we invite 80 clients and insurers (all female), place a few bets but most importantly raise money and awareness of breast cancer.
On the 27th most of us are off to the city for dinner and a pub crawl.. should be interesting. We will probably also be having some sort of an end of financial year function at some point.
Just rec’d a random text and it goes something like this.. “Hey its joey mis me haha wel dis is my numba bludga.. hav a gudnite bye” to which I reply.. “who are you?” to which this joey replies.. “oh crap i forgot 2 tel you haha its joey oops” to which I reply “I don’t know a joey” to which joey replies “ar ok is this ashley” to which i reply “nope, looks like you were given the wrong no.” At this point I realise I have wasted money on a complete stranger that sounds like he is about 12! Poor Joey…
I’ve played with the look of this blog for a while and can’t find one I’m happy with so I’ve gone back to the original.. When I speak to my brother next I may have to ask him for his technical advice I think. Anyway probably bored you enough for one night… Cya

These pics of Alek were taken at Coffs Harbour in January. The 1st is Alek getting some pool tips from his grandad, then with the seal and snake at the Pet Porpoise Pool. We were lucky enough to be there whilst they had a repitle show on also. I’m not quite sure Alek had the “come put a snake around my neck” look on his face but he was ok with it. Better him then me

This Weekend April 1, 2007

On friday night I went to the movies and saw Bra Boys.. Not my choice but it was interesting. If you don’t know it’s pretty much a documentary narrated by Russell Crowe on the life of the Abberton brothers. It makes you think about how some people are brought up and how they deal with it.
On Saturday I went to a 10 yr old party for my friends daughter, Kayla. I think the 11 girls all had a good time, not too sure about Jasmin and myself.. Try keeping score of 11 girls whilst they play adventure golf. Competitive little things they were and made sure you got their score. Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to bring along the party blower things that make a really high pitched noise?? We then went back to Jasmin’s for a second party/bbq with more family and friends. Overall it was a great day and I got to catch up with a few people I haven’t seen for a few years.
Alek was at his Dads this weekend, he played two games of AFL. Under 9’s and under 10’s and scored 4 goals in his first game of the season. Then he was off to the Swans v’s Eagles game in which the Eagles won by 1 point. He phoned me this morning to brag about it. Thanks Al!
Weird TV Shows April 1, 2007

I was a little bit bored this afternoon and I guess avoiding the cleaning, ironing and mowing that needed to be done so I thought I’d check what was on tv. That turned out to be rather scary! There was some sort of documentary on people seemingly obsessed with star trek. They would regularly attend functions, where the costumes out etc. One guy dresses his cat up and takes him to the conventions.. apparently the cat likes watching star trek too. One lady has taken hundreds of pictures of a particular character and another wears some sort of uniform to work while she lives in the pretend world of being some star ship commander.. Why did I watch it for 10 mins?? No idea! I understand people liking particular shows but when it affects your “normal” daily activities it’s a little strange.
