In 1999, the residents of Columbia Station,Ohio, woke up on a Tuesday morning to a horrific headline: “Newborn Boy Found Stabbed in Duffel Bag in Quarry.” The community named him Baby Boy Hope and gave him a memorial service. For the next six years, police made it their mission to bring the person responsible to justice. They believed they were looking for a monster, but the person who eventually came forward shocked them all.Jessica Coleman—former cheerleader, star athlete and honor student—confessed to the crime. She had been 15 years old at the time of the baby’s death.

I was glued to this Oprah episode. Having been pregnant at 17 and knowing how scared I was I cannot even begin to imagine how this girl at 15, with an older boyfriend encouraging her to hide the pregnancy was feeling. She and her boyfriend made a pact not to tell anyone and were hoping that if they ignored it, it would go away.
When I found out I was pregnant I was scared and confused but I never thought of hiding my pregnancy for 9 months, giving birth on a toilet, stabbing my baby and dumping him but this girl hadn’t exactly planned on that either. At the time adoption wasn’t an option for me and I was against abortion. I am a lot more open minded these days but I am still not sure abortion or adoption would be for me. I was terrified of my family’s reaction but I knew I would be able to tell my them at some point and I did, not long after I found out. They were shocked & disappointed but eventually came around and they have all been supportive since. Thanks guys!!
Jessica was so scared of the reaction that she felt she couldn’t tell her family. She will now spend 6 years in a maximum security prison.I thought Oprah was a bit harsh with some of her questioning until the end of the show when she announced that she hid a pregnancy at the age of 14 as a result of being abused. When she confessed the abuse she went into early labour and the baby died. She went on to say that you are not your past and only you can determine your future.
What is it with Tradesmen? December 1, 2006

Have you waited… and waited…. and waited for a tradesman to grace you with their presence? Sure they are busy but why do they think it’s perfectly ok to keep you waiting all day? What would happen if the following people failed to show up when they said they would;
- Funeral director
- Wedding celebrant
- Police (no wait, i’ve had that happen!)
- Public transport (no, that happens too!)
- Your solicitor
- Ambulance, fire services
I’m sitting here waiting on a handyman, plumber and electrician. The handyman has apparently arranged and confirmed that the plumber and electrician will phone me and turn up today. I have two hours before leaving home. I lack confidence in the handyman because i waited two months for him to call before phoning the real estate to complain. He then tells me at 10am he will be here well before 3pm and turns up at 2.30pm only to have enough time to do some of the minor jobs!!
The plumber just phoned and said he will be here in 45 mins…. stay tuned!
The plumbers turned up right on time and completed the job without any problems! The electrician on the other hand phoned at 4pm to say they wouldnt be able to make it today.
