Alek is turning 8 in three weeks. I have only just seriously thought about giving him a party this year after speaking to his teacher and hearing about how much he has improved this term at school. Last night I did some thinking and looked around on the internet for some options. There was the usual McDonalds but I think he is getting too old for that, the boys he is inviting would probably terrorise the play area.. then there is kids play & party centres and bowling… Most of which cost about $17/child. Whatever happened to the $5 McDonalds parties!

The internet can be a fantastic thing but what’s the world coming to… instead of phoning and meeting up with family we now logon to the internet and read their blogs to find out what they are doing. In a family of four children, two of my brothers have a blog so I figured I better get to it… Then next time they say “you never call” I can say “refer to the blog” :o )

I got in touch with a cousin I haven’t seen for years through school friends or friends united or whatever it is they call themselves these days.. He msg’d me a few months ago and I finally spent the $14.95 to reply!

A little about me… at the moment I am in between jobs and was smart enough to take a week off. That’s where the intelligence starts and ends.. I have also learn’t the following:

Resigning is much harder than expected

Resigning a few weeks before Christmas and your son’s 8th birthday – not the best idea!!

Grown men (bosses) can turn into childish little school girls and not speak to you (sorry guys but if you treated me right in the first place I might have stayed)

When buying presents.. hiding them in the back seat of the car doesn’t help.. after convincing your child it is not for them and hoping they forget about seeing it, they find it again in another not so good hiding spot.

When a handyman tells at you at 10am they will be here well before 3pm, expect them at 2.30 or not at all.

What have I done with my time off… well it’s been kind of hectic.. my life usually is.. Alek has had cricket photos, swimming, cricket training… that we kind of forgot about and school concerts for two nights. Tonight Alek and I are off to dinner with a friend from interstate. During the day I have been cleaning, reading my brothers blogs, christmas shopping, handyman around to fix some things around the place.

I had better get going.. Dr Phil is on soon!!
